HartbeesPoort Dam Snake and Animal Park, offers visitors one of lifes truly exciting, enjoyable and informative experiences. Situated at the foot of the Magaliesburg, on the banks of the picturesque, Hartebeespoort dam, it is home to a variety of species that are overseen and cared for, by a team of committed conservationists.
With an excellent track record for breeding threatened and endangered species such as the black footed cat (now known as the small spotted cat), the Cape vulture and the African Hunting dog, HartbeesPoort Dam, Snake and Animal Park is globally recognized and acknowledged, for their contribution to environmentalism. The park is also home to Cats, Chimpanzees, seals and many other species that will no doubt delight, last but not least, lets not forget the park specialty, Snakes Courses.

Snake
Courses for the general public, are held throughout the year and cater
for beginners to advanced. Courses are FGASA approved and certificates
are issued to those who achieve a satisfactory standard. The Park is
well known for the special lectures and courses it provides to
companies such as those from the mining industry, whose employees are
regularly exposed to snakes. Courses have also been presented to
paramedics, nature conservation officers, game park field officers, SA
Police Services, SA Defense Force and the fire and ambulance services.

Motor Boat Cruises
Leisure Boat Cruise: Departs every 45 min, approx. 25 min per cruise @ R30.00 per adult and R 15.00 per child
Speed Boat Cruises: Approx. 15 min with a minimum of 6 people and a max of 9 @ R 60.00pp Route: Dam Wall, Kosmos, Pecanwood and Snake Park.
Speed Boat Rental: 1 hour incl. skipper with a max of 8 people. Explore the dam at leisure. R 1500.00 per hour
Tube Rides: Variety available. Approx. 10 min with a minimum of 2 people and max of 4 people per session @ R60.00 pp
Wake Snake: Approx. 10 min with a max of 3 people per session @ R60.00 pp
Skippers and Vessels are S.A.M.S.A (South African Maritime Safety Authority) accredited

Snake Course Modules.
Snake Awareness Lecture: Snakes Alive 1: This is a 1 and a 1/2 to 2 hour general lecture on snakes, types, identification, habits, locomotion etc. It also covers prescribed behavior to avoid snakebites and what action to take if bitten. Six different types of snakes are used in this demonstration but no handling is involved. This lecture is suitable for large groups.
Snake Handling/Rescue Course: Snakes Alive II: This full day course is aimed at selected personnel who will learn how to identify the various snakes and how to catch and remove them from inappropriate areas. It also covers additional information on snakebite and first aid treatment. Six different snakes are used in this course and participants spend time learning how to catch snakes safely. It is suitable for small groups of 8 to 10 persons and participants must already have attended the Snake Awareness Lecture. This course is also FGASA approved and a certificate is provided together with extensive documented information.
Snakebite and Treatment: Snakes Alive III: This is a morning course and is aimed at doctors, nurses and paramedics. It concentrates on types of venom found in snakes common to specific areas, how the venom is delivered, and how best to identify the threat and treat the victim in the correct manner.
