The word "Sethuthuthu" means motor bike in the Sesotho Language.  The idea of these Tours on Quad Bikes (ATV's, All Terrain Vehicles) was born when a couple of farmers, owners of scenic places, some with historical value, got together and decided to open up their farms to the public for tourism purposes.  The tours are presented in a Conservancy area and a National Park.

All Tours will be accompanied by guides who will supply as much information as

possible on the areas being travelled through. Tours are conducted by qualified

registered guides in possession of  NQF2 to NQF4 to FGASA Certificates.

Sethuthuthu Tours:

The tours are for nature lovers, and not for those who want to speed over obstacles at a flying pace.

On the tour, you will travel slowly as the area is so beautiful with much to see.  You have an obstacle course where you will be instructed on how to handle your ATV on steep declines and uphills.  You are in nature, so you will learn about indigenous plants and their value to the old pioneers who were in this area in the 1830's.  You will also learn about the sandstone formations and learn some geology!

Come and enjoy a ride through our own Fairy Forest or Garden Route with its Kgotla "place of gathering" along the trail.  An exciting way to cross a mountain and streams over stone bridges.  The thrill of a stairway to heaven.  The Washing Machine and Victoria Falls!  Ascending Mount Ararat is included in the longer trips with views over the Eastern Free State.

The three hour trip is special as a sundowner cruise.

The five hour trip is done to the Qwa Qwa National Park as a half day mini safari.  Explore this piece of untamed wilderness in the Eastern Free State.  Lots of plains and game to see.  A real adventure!

All  trails include the  following: Beautiful scenery with lots of game to be seen. Your own ATV to drive under supervision of guide/ instructor. Transport from our farm and back. Park entrance fees. Lunch.
OVERNIGHT 2 DAYS ONE NIGHT TRAIL: R 2670 PER PERSON. Inclusive the above, all meals and accommodation in rustic cottage.
Sleeping bags available at R20 per night.
All the above quoted  prices are without VAT.

The early Khoekoen called the Black Wildebeest "gnu" because of its cry (genu) which it bellows when alarmed.  These ungainly grazers were once faced with extinction but are now off that danger list.  They differ from the Blue Wildebeest by their long white tails and white manes.

Visit our Wilderness area for a once in a lifetime adventure with tours to Qwa Qwa National Park presented in a 4 x 4 game viewing vehicle by qualified guides.  Breathtaking scenery and game and dinosaur fossils and footprints.  Bushman paintings too.

Please Note:
Credit Card facilities available at Sethuthuthu premises.

What a great trip and the guide even better. Very knowledgeable about the history of the place. Its fun for the whole family and well worth every penny.

This must be one of the ’50 things to do before you die’ and also high on your priority list. We took the five hour trip in the Qwa Qwa National Park, an absolute treat for nature and game lovers alike. With Neil van Schalkwyk as your guide, you can look forward to an unforgettable experience. One of the highlights of the tour were the Bushman paintings underneath an overhang. These however are no longer part of the tour and have also been defaced by vandals since we have been there. You will need to go far to find better organised and friendlier people than Neil and Veronica. Once again - this is a trip to remember!
