how do I get there?
We are willing to launch anywhere in South Africa if at all suitable. The price of flights quoted on the web are based on a launch site in the Cradle of Humankind close to Lanseria Airport (35Km north-west of Johannesburg).
what should i wear?
Walking shoes, layered clothing and simply what you will be comfortable in.
time period
Each flight is different. How high, how long and where you’ll land no one knows. That is the joy of flight.
vital information
Air to Air Africa is licensed by South African Civil Aviation Authority to operate under Air Service License N689D (non-scheduled public air transport service license) and G690D (Advertising Operations license).
Weather
Balloons need cool stable conditions in order to operate safely. Thermal activity begins approximately 2 hours after sunrise. It is due to this factor that we fly at sunrise. We are unable to fly in the afternoon due to insufficient daylight left as twilight is relatively short in South Africa.
Participants
Passengers must be capable of standing for the duration of flight (1 hour) and able to enter and exit the basket unassisted. A guardian must accompany children under 16. Children should be over 1.20 meters tall to see over the basket.
Spectators
Spectators are welcome join crew in retrieval of the balloon, and join participants for breakfast after the flight. Be sure to bring your own camera as this is one awesome photo opportunity.
Availability
Balloons are limited to the amount of passengers and the weight they may carry. For this reason it is very important that you book well in advance, so as not to be disappointed.
Other Info
A fresh nobleman set off with a couple of friends for a flight near Paris. On landing they were set upon by an angry mob with pitchforks, who thought they were the Devil. But the boys had some Champaign on board. This proved to they truly belonged to Mother Earth. Thus began the traditions of a bottle of Champaign after a flight.
A VIEW FROM ABOVE
The first time man defied the laws of gravity in a hot air balloon was in 1783. From this time on it has been one of the adventure activities on many peoples must do list.

This simple form of flight has not changed much in all this time. Air to Air fly 3 commercial balloons. The traditional wicker baskets can carry 8, 12 and 16 passengers. These baskets are weight related depending on the cubic capacity of their envelopes and for this reason booking well in advance is essential.

Balloons require stable air conditions and for this reason flights take place at sunrise.  Passengers meet for tea and coffee 30 minutes before take-off. Most of the flights take place from a private golf estate on the Crocodile River in the Kromdraai Conservancy also known as the Cradle of Humankind, approximately 35km from Johannesburg. As all the balloons are on trailers these can be moved to a destination of your choice for larger groups.

ADVENTURE FOR EVERYONE
You do not need to be physically fit to stand for an hour while you float along at tree top height and you may get to pick a leaf from the top of a tree, or speak to passers-by who have stop to take a picture of you as you drift along in relative silence. That is until the pilot burns to maintain heat in the envelope and keep the balloon in flight. Tranquil and calming are the word that most describe the experience.

SCROLL DOWN TO BOOK TODAY
Balloons move with the wind and therefore where you land no one knows. Not even the Pilot can tell you prior to flight. Each flight is different and the ground crews job is to find the balloon on landing. As tradition dictates the landing is celebrated with a glass of Champagne and /or orange juice. You are then whisked away in the retrieval vehicle and taken for a well deserved breakfast. Air to Air Africa will then present you with a certificate to remember the day you defied the law of gravity.

Flights take place daily throughout the year, and this is a wonderful gift to receive or a romantic way to celebrate that special event, be it a birthday, engagement and anniversary. For a corporate function or team building experience or even to launch a new product. Air to Air Africa can place your company's banner around the balloons.
